Amanda Guarascio, and her friend Dylan Parkinson, stumbled across a lost dog in a remote area near her home. The dog was seriously malnourished and unapproachable. But when Amanda saw the dog, she knew she had to try to help him.
The dog was terrified and wouldn’t come near them, even though try tried to bribe him with food. They hung out in the area until 3am but just couldn’t get close to the dog.
But Amanda and Dylan were not going to give up easily. They returned the next night with more food and another plan.
Amanda knew that anyone who has survived any form of abuse has a hard time trusting again. This is true whether it’s humans or dogs. And it was obvious this dog had not had a warm, loving or easy life. It definitely appeared that he had been abused in the past.
Writing on the Lost & Found Pets Wa State Facebook page, Amanda explained: “Dylan suggested that I try getting out of the truck again since he had taken a liking to me. I got out and went behind the truck, and then fetalized on the gravel road right by the pup with my back to him.”
So Amanda lay there on the ground pretending to be injured. The dog was skeptical, but he little by little started moving closer to check it out.
