Two dogs named Lucy and Sully arrived at a shelter around the same time. They instantly bonded as soon as they met. The shelter staff was all surprised by how quickly they became so close.
Lucy came to the shelter as a stray. Sully was adopted once, but then was returned back to the shelter. Sully was just a puppy, and Lucy was several years older, so Lucy quickly became like a mommy to Sully.
For whatever reason, they seemed to understand each other and they were best of friends.
A woman named Alaina Brinton’s senior dog passed away and she decided to welcome a new dog into her family. She saw a picture of Lucy at her local humane society and wanted to meet her. She knew the dog would be a perfect fit after reading her story.
“I saw a picture of Lucy at my local humane society and just had to meet her,” Alaina said. “When I called, they said that she’d been fostered with another dog and they’d like for me to also meet her buddy. I figured there wouldn’t be any harm in seeing both.”
Alaina wasn’t planning to adopt two dogs. But when she met them and saw how inseparable the two were, she realized it would have to be a package deal. If she took one, she’d need to take the other too.
