Castiel was a dog that was picked up on the streets of Los Angeles. He was alone and wondering aimlessly. While Castiel appeared to be a normal dog from a distance, it didn’t take long to figure out he was anything but.
It was obvious he had been alone for a long time. He was severely emaciated and was covered with parasites. He was also suffering from mange.
Rescuers thought he was an ordinary dog. He had on a collar of some sort, so it was thought that he had been a pet at some point in his life.
But when the shelter picked this dog up and examined him, they discovered this dog was actually a wolf-dog hybrid. There was no way they could keep him in the shelter.
If they didn’t find somewhere to take him very soon, he would have to be euthanized.
Luckily for him, there was a sanctuary in Colorado called the W.O.L.F Sanctuary. The acronym stands for “Wolves Offered Life and Friendship,” and they have the resources to take care of wolfs and dog-wolf hybrids. They agreed to take him.
Before going off to Colorado, this dog got a bath and was treated for parasites and mange. He was moved to an off-site infirmary where he could recover until he was healthy enough to go to the sanctuary.
