Sally Rewehooeern was 92 years old and lived in Mount Vernon, Washington State. She originally moved from her hometown of Leeuwarden, Holland, in 1953, has lived alone for the past 27 years.
She’s been lonely, especially since her kids are scattered across the country.
Sally’s neighbors recently lost their beloved old dog, Blizzard. Blizzard used to go and visit Sally several times a day. In fact, when the dog was missing, they always knew where to find him.
When Blizzard passed, Sally was very sad.
But then her neighbors adopted a new fluffy 15-week-old puppy named Brody. When they told Sally that they had gotten another puppy from Tula, Russia, she was very happy.
When they first brought her home, it didn’t take long for the puppy to wander over to Sally’s house. Now every time she is outside doing yard work or walking to the mailbox, or even going to church, the puppy follows her.
“He just wanders round into my house on his own whenever he fancies it which takes me back to my days growing up on farms surrounded by dogs in Holland,” Sally said.
“It’s lovely for me to have Brody come and join me whenever I’m gardening, walking to church and he even tries to get in the car with me.”
