Julie Docherty from Los Angeles has a big heart, and loves to adopt dogs, mostly Chihuahuas. It first started with MoMo, a Chihuahua who is now 16-years-old. When Julie first saw MoMo, it was love at first sight.
When Julie adopted MoMo, she started to realize just how overlooked senior shelter dogs can be.
So, since then, she’s opened up her home to three more senior Chihuahuas: Linda (13-years-old), Choli (14-years-old), and Benito (15-years-old).
Julie started an Instagram account to share pictures of her dogs, and spread the word about the joys that come with adopting a senior dog. Life was beautiful, and Julie shared lots of pictures.
Julie has been volunteering with the Love My Neighbor Foundation in Los Angeles. She hands out food and clothes to the homeless and others in need.
One day a woman brought Julie a tiny, crying kitten. She told Julie that she had just saved the kitten from being tossed around in one of the homeless tents. She knew couldn’t keep it, but did Julie know of a rescue that would take it.
