Helen Woodward Animal Center is an animal shelter in Rancho Santa Fe, California that holds a passionate belief that “animals help people and people help animals through trust, unconditional love, and respect creates a legacy of caring.”
The center has seen dozens of dog cruelty cases, but they’ve never seen anything like this one.

The dog’s original owner had bound his mouth with a cruel wire-muzzle as well as kicking him and other abuses. He was in jail for something totally unrelated to this, but his dog was left to fend for himself in the streets.
Then, above and beyond everything else the dog had been through, he was further wounded when two large dogs attacked him. This left him with severe head injuries and he almost lost his ears.
