A little stray, dirty poodle dog in Los Angeles seemed to have given up on life. No one knew if he was injured or if he’d just given up. But it was the love of a little boy that would transform this dog’s life forever.
Neighbors, who had been feeding him and trying to care for him, noticed he was barely moving. They got scared he might be sick or injured, so they contacted Eldad Hagar, founder of the rescue organization Hope for Paws if he could help.
Eldad and Lisa Arturo were just on their way back from rescuing two other dogs that day, but they stopped to see if they could help this dog, later named Yankee Poodle.
They found the dog lying on the sidewalk with his head sticking out from a small alley where he had been hanging out. The dog was very scared and very defensive. He was dirty, and tangled fur, he looked very tired, worn down and lethargic.
But he growled at anyone who came near him, and looked ready to fight.
But Eldad is an expert and knows exactly what to do. He waited until the dog calmed down and gently got the leash over his head. It took a few minutes, but the dog finally allowed Eldad and Lisa to pet him and pick him up.
