A family in Bangor in County Down, Northern Ireland is so incredibly thankful to their dog for saving their 5-year-old son after he got trapped in the family clothes dryer. The dog alerted his mom that he was in trouble.
Riley Gedge-Duffy is a 5-year-old boy with Down syndrome. He was apparently hiding in the dryer when it turned itself on.
Teddy, a Cockapoo dog, noticed the boy and rushed upstairs to get the boy’s mother who was running a vacuum upstairs. The dog was barking loudly and trying to get the mother to follow him.
Then the dog jumped and pawed at the dryer. It was so dark inside, the mom couldn’t see what was in there. But then she heard banging and crashing and saw his iPad through the window.
Mom pulled the child out and immediately put him under cold water. Riley’s dad came home seconds later and moved him to a cold shower until the ambulance arrived.
The child was rushed to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries, consisting mostly of burns and bruising to his arms, back and head. He was also pretty traumatized by the event.
