An aging Labrador retriever who had been abandoned by a family who didn’t want her, took a private jet to her new home to live with a Florida heiress.

Originally, the dog was named Lady and was in the Chautauqua County Animal Shelter in Kansas. Two years ago, the dog’s original owner passed away.  She was adopted twice, but neither of them worked out for the dog.

The first family said the old dog didn’t get along with their other pets. The second family adopted her, but the dog escaped and walked 30 miles back to her previous home. Sadly, her owner drove her back to the shelter and dumped her again.

Kelsey Loyd, director of the shelter said Lady was an amazing dog. “Super dog. Gentle, calm dog,” he said. “If I had to pick a dog, this would have been the dog I would take.

While visiting the shelter, Cindy Barclay Powell took a picture of Lady and posted it to multiple Facebook pages dedicated to saving shelter animals.

The senior lab walked nearly 30 miles to come home,” Cindy wrote on Facebook. “Is there anyone out there who can give this girl a home? She may not have many years left. She is spayed, house broken, leash trained, mellow, having problems walking (so her travels back to Sedan amazed me).

And then Cindy’s post started gaining traction.
