Someone called for help in South Carolina when they heard a dog barking for days on end in the thick brush of North Pointe Creek. Animal Control came to check it out.
When animal control officer, Michelle Smith, arrived to investigate, she was shocked by what she found.
Following the dogs howls, Officer Smith went to a ravine behind a Home Depot, and climbed down the steep embankment. When she finally got to the bottom she found a Shih Tzu mix dog nursing a tiny baby kitten.
The dog could’ve walked up the embankment herself, but she refused to leave the kitten alone, and couldn’t make it up the steep embankment with the kitten in her mouth. So she had been barking, hoping someone would come help her.
It was obvious that this dog considered the kitten to be her own baby. She was cleaning and tending to her as though it was her own puppy. She had clearly adopted the cute little baby kitten.
It appeared that the dog and kitten had been trapped in the ravine for many days.
