Mike Anderson and Darrell Watson volunteered to do what they could to help when devastating floods hit Louisiana. Many humans were desperate for help, and some had to leave their dogs behind.
Mike and Darrell were able to save 100 human and animal lives and were determined to save as many more as possible. They weren’t going to give up.
While riding through the floodwaters in a boat, searching for signs of life, Mike and Darrel happened upon two pit bulls clinging to life in about four feet of water. The dogs were believed to have been there for about 16 hours.
They were perched on a fence and incredibly worn out from fighting to stay afloat for so long.
The shelters were all too full to take in any more animals, so not only did they rescue these two pit bulls, Mike and Darrell offered to take them as foster parents. Amazing!
The first one the rescued was just a puppy. They found the second one a few doors down, also exhausted from trying to keep from being swept away. It’s not clear if the two dogs were related.
The water came up so fast, it was likely the owners just didn’t have time to get them, but at least now they were safe.
