A pit bull mix dog, later named Winston, was found abandoned near the Michigan Animal Rescue League.
A volunteer from the shelter was walking another dog when that dog started pulling on his leash and led him to some bushes behind the shelter’s building.
The volunteer saw Winston cowering against the shelter building. He was emaciated, his ribs were poking out, he had a 20-foot rope tied tightly around his neck, and could barely stand up due to frostbite on his legs.
The shelter took him in, gave him medical care and some food. He appeared to have been terribly neglected for quite some time.
Winston didn’t have a collar, or tags, or a microchip. Volunteers at the shelter have no idea how he got there. The security cameras didn’t show anyone dropping him off.
Maybe the dog somehow instinctively knew that this was a safe place for him, and somehow found his way there.
