Rainbow is a loving and caring homeless pit bull dog who has been wandering the streets of Los Angeles. She had just given birth to a litter of puppies and was desperately trying to keep them safe.
California was being hit by one of the most massive storms it has seen in years.
The dog, later named Rainbow, and her puppies were seen wandering the streets, and someone called the Hope for Paws organization. Eldad Hagar, founder of Hope For Paws does a lot of amazing things for dogs that need help.
Rescuers knew that with this storm, it was imperative that they find the dog and puppies as quickly as possible. They searched desperately for over three and a half hours in the middle of the storm. Finally, they found them.
The mommy dog had dug in behind a couple of thick bushes and created a sort of den. She was desperately trying to keep the puppies warm, but the storm made it very unsafe for the puppies and they needed help.
Rescuers had been aware of this dog for months but they had been unable to pick her up. She was terrified of humans, and very protective of her puppies. Rescuers knew that now that she had a litter of puppies, she needed their help even more.
Eldad led the rescue. He knew he couldn’t just push the dog away and grab for the puppies, so he spent quite a bit of time interacting with the dog, giving her some cheeseburger, and generally build up some trust.
