Kathleen Zuidema doesn’t have much time left. Even though she’s never smoked, she contracted lung cancer, which has now spread to her liver and other parts of her body.
Kathleen begins chemo on Thursday, but doctors say the treatment will not save her. They are hoping the chemo will at least give her a few more months to live.
Kathleen posted on Facebook, “This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do.”
But she wasn’t talking about dying, or even the upcoming chemo treatments.
Instead, she is desperate to find a home for her posse. The posse, or the “Aussie Posse” as she lovingly calls her three dogs, needs a forever home. Kathleen’s dying wish is to find them that perfect home where they can be together before she passes away.
“They are a package deal,” wrote Kathleen. “It is a huge thing to ask of one person but the thought of them being separated is more than l can bear.”
The three dogs, Autumn, Mona, and Finnegan, have been Kathleen’s constant companions since they were puppies.
Her hopes are not only that they can stay together, but also that they can stay on San Juan Island, where she lives.
She knows that keeping them together and keeping them on the island is a long shot. But she has a strong belief that the right home is out there for her beloved dogs. And so she turned to Facebook in the hopes that her plea will reach the right family.
