Oftentimes, dogs are very clear about who they like, and who they don’t.  It’s true. Dogs can be very particular.

Dogs are usually protective of everyone in the family, but mot times there is a special bond with one particular person.  So how do dogs choose their favorite person?

Of course we can’t read their mind, and every dog is different, but there are some basics that seem to apply to most dogs.

In a family, your dog most likely chose what he perceived as the “leader of the pack.”  Most likely, that is because you are the one who is providing food, caring for him, and spending the most time with him.

But that’s not always the case.  Just like with humans, sometimes a dog and a person can develop an instant bond.

So what does that mean?  Well, when a dog has bonded to one particular person, he’s generally happier to see that person more than anyone else.  You can generally see it in his body language.

Of course he’s excited when anyone comes home, but when the person he’s particularly bonded with comes home, it’s off the charts.

But what if that person isn’t you?  If you love your dog, and that bond isn’t quite there, here are some tips to help you develop that spark.
