It was Independence Day. The 4th of July fireworks were loud and scary. It was too much for Dora the German shepherd dog. She bolted out of her back yard when she couldn’t handle it any longer.
Her family was beside themselves with grief. They turned the neighborhood upside down searching for the dog, but they found no sign of her.
Time went by – days, followed by weeks. There was no sign of the dog anywhere. Kery O’Bryan, the dog’s owner was absolutely heartbroken.
Kery keep calling Animal Control. He wasn’t going to give up. But Animal Control officers tried to tell Kery that the dog might have been hit by a car. They had picked up a dog that looked like Dora that had been killed by a car earlier that month.
Kery didn’t believe it. He knew his dog was too smart to wander into traffic. She’d certainly not ever done anything like that before. Kery insisted that they scan the dog for a microchip, and sure enough, it wasn’t her.
Kery was starting to lose hope. He didn’t know if he would ever see his beloved dog again. Where could she have possibly gone?
But then, finally, the story makes a turn in a much better direction.
