It can be extremely difficult for us dog lovers to accept the fact that we will likely live longer than our dogs. To some people, they may be “just dogs,” but for many of us, they are like our children. They bring so much joy into our lives every day.
There’s nothing like coming home to you dog and seeing them so excited to see you after you’ve had a long day at work. They jump on us, or can’t stop licking us or giving us kisses.
We create so many memories with our dogs – so many precious moments ingrained in our brains. At least we have those memories to help us when they’re gone over the rainbow bridge.
Catie Callaghan lost her dog, and then documented it on Twitter. You can see from the photos below, how Catie felt when her 15-year-old dog, Bandit, passed away after surgery.
This dog was everything to the Callaghan family. They rescued him years ago and this was his fourth home. The dog had lots of health problems, but the Callaghans worked hard to keep the dog happy and comfortable.
As much as the dog loved everyone in his family, he had an especially close bond with Catie’s dad.
