Three years ago, Ella the dog went missing from her home in Indianapolis, Indiana. But her microchip and the kindness of strangers helped to finally get her reunited with her family.
When the dog went missing, Theresa Hobson and her family were devastated. They searched and searched, but couldn’t find the dog anywhere.
Theresa left dog food out during the winter, hoping her dog would have something to eat if she came home. She was afraid for her dog, and didn’t want her to be out in the cold.
The dog has always been kind of skittish. That could be why she was gone so long.
Nobody knows exactly what happened to the dog or how she got lost, but people who work at the Toyota dealership about six miles away from her house started seeing the dog hanging around about two and half years ago.
Employees at the dealership tried to help the dog, but she wouldn’t come near them. If anyone got close at all, she would run off.
But the employees left food and water out for her to make sure she was fed.
Finally, someone from the dealership noticed that the dog was limping. Mindy Butler, the wife of the dealership’s owner called the Humane Society to find help for the dog.
