A police K-9 dog named Déjà is the hero who saved a kidnapped girl in California. It was about 3am when the girl disappeared from her house.
The girl was 16-years-old, and from Rancho Cucamonga, California. When she was found to be missing, a full-scale search was initiated.
The Rancho Cucamonga Police Department says the girl was last seen being taken into the woods by an unknown man. They also found drag marks from the girl’s apparent kidnapping.
Police sent a dog handler and his search dog, Déjà, to find the girl.
The dog got the scent from the girl’s purse and went off to find her. Police followed the dog deep into the woods where they came upon a house. Once the dog was at the door, she refused to leave.
When the dog refused to leave the door, police realized that the girl must be inside. Police found the girl and her kidnapper inside the house. The kidnapper was immediately arrested and the girl was saved!
Luckily she was unharmed. Rescuers got to her in time!
It just goes to prove that bad guys can run, but they can’t hide from this dog’s bloodhound nose. Déjà has been working with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department since 2013.
What a wonderful story. These dogs do so much to help the community. They should be celebrated and honored.
