When discussing pit bull dogs, you get different reactions depending on who you’re talking to. Those who know them tend to speak of them as loving and positive. And then there are those negative dog fighting and vicious stories.
Would you be surprised to learn that pit bulls actually used to be America’s darlings? It was only during the mid-80s that people started breeding dog to be fighters.
Today, many pet lovers are joining forces to share the more positive side of pit bulls. The truth is, they’re not inherently mean. They’re actually loving and loyal dogs.

When Cruz was brought to the shelter in San Bernardino, California, he was labeled as aggressive. He was captured using a choke stick and was filthy and covered with ticks. He’d obviously been left to fend for himself for a long time.
Cruz is sort of the “poster child” of the negative pit bull stories. Many times, dogs who are scared will make grumbling noises or will cower in a way that can be taken as “hostile behavior” when in fact they’re just terrified.
